What did I think before playing?
The game was reviewed highly and sold well at retail. I was a part of the multiplayer-only beta test for this game on Xbox 360 and liked what I saw. In fact, the full version of the game actually managed to knock the lofty Halo series from the top spot of the list of the most popular Xbox Live games by hours played online. I would have picked this game up already but was more interested in Halo 3 at the time.

What is included?
The E3 trailer opens the demo and then you get the opening level, (I think,) of the single player campaign.

What did I think afterwards?
This was a pretty short play through; 10 to 15 minutes is all it takes. Still, I hadn't played any of the single player missions before so this was a sweet little taste. The action was frenetic and the war going on around me felt chaotic. Your squad has to go and rescue another group who are trying to hold out against enemy forces that are surrounding their broken down tank. Think Black Hawk Down but put a tank where the chopper would be. You get to try on your night vision goggles while clearing buildings, destroy an anti-aircraft gun with a demo-pack and fire of missiles at enemy tanks.
I'm not convinced by the regenerative health gameplay on the PC though, which is something I equate to console shooters much more easily. Also, despite the mouse giving me more accuracy with my shooting, I feel like I was more in control when playing the beta on Xbox 360 with a controller. Since my desktop isn't up to much graphically, that is another good reason for me to go with the console version.

Would I buy the full game?
Yes, although I can't say that comes from playing this demo. It was the multiplayer beta that hooked my interest much more than this early single player mission. However, having played this demo I now get the sense that CoD4 does have something substantial while playing alone, so that gives more value to the purchase, (otherwise I could just stick to any of the other FPS games I have for a quick deathmatch session.)

Demo Pros
Shows off some of the weaponry and equipment you get to use and lets you be the hero by saving a stranded group of soldiers and their tank.

Demo Cons
Pretty short and single player only, (for a game known for its multiplayer.)

Demo Rating 7 / 10

Thoughts after playing the full game?
If I play the full game I will put comments here about whether I feel the demo was representative of the final product and if I am happy with the purchase.

Sales Figures
If I can find sales information about a game after it has been released I'll add that here. It may be useful to track demos to sales performance.
